How to create a self-care routine

Let’s start with a question; What is self-care?

In simple words, It can be any practice that helps you to become the version of yourself that you are striving for or meant to be. It’s getting to know yourself and cultivating powerful choice-making skills. It’s anything that makes you feel good to blossom in the direction you want to go. But, often self care is considered as selfishness and it’s the most neglected matter in everyone’s life. One needs to frame a self care routine and follow it religiously, if, infeasible then opt for life coaching. It can drive your life in a right direction.

How to attain self care routine? I would say that we have the power to control or to deviate our lives. In ancient forms of medicine, any illness or discontentment is an indication of disharmony within the body, mind, and spirit. You respond well to change when you nourish these different aspects of yourself. Here are some ideas of self-care practices for each expression:

Mind

  • Detach from technology a few hours a day
  • Surround yourself with people who are stimulating
  • Learn to meditate
  • Start a new hobby
  • Read a topic in a day that expands your growth
  • Start a savings account
  • Document the good things people say about you
  • Create a deliberate habit
  • Learn to compliment yourself
  • Compliment others and make others smile

Body

  • Wake up earlier
  • Dance/ Sing/ Play some music for a while everyday
  • Take a warm bath
  • Get a massage
  • Give treat to your body by exercising for 10 minutes everyday
  • Cook something and serve yourself elegantly
  • Learn pranayama or breath work
  • Get 15 minutes of Sun
  • Have a good laugh
  • Pick two healthy breakfasts, lunches, and dinners and rotate for the week
  • Take a quick nap
  • Go for a walk and enjoy even the slightest substance of nature

Spirit

  • Keep agratitude journal
  • Start your day with determination to make your day the best
  • Find a mentor
  • Perform random act of kindness each day
  • Make one person happy each day
  • List out all the blessings of God and be grateful to him
  • Learn to be silent and remember all the good moments of the day
  • Before going to bed thanks to your lord for a beautiful day
